Upon arrival in Tigre, we will travel to the port for a catamaran ride through the Paraná River Delta. We will return via the Pan-American Highway to Buenos Aires. Regular route: drop-off at the Obelisco. Overnight stay.

Day 4

Buenos Aires - El Calafate

Breakfast. Airport transfer. Flight to El Calafate. Reception and hotel transfers.

Depending on your arrival time, you can take the optional Balcones del Calafate tour. Duration: 3 hours. Departure at 15:XNUMX p.m. from the hotel.

From the Balcón, a stunning natural lookout point, you can enjoy a panoramic view of El Calafate and the central body of Lake Argentino. The tour offers views of the Andes Mountains and the glacial accumulation zone, as well as views of Boca del Diablo (the narrowest part of the lake, heading toward the Upsala arm). If the weather is clear, we can see Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Torre in El Chaltén. We'll also have the opportunity to spot condors in flight.
Depending on the excursion you choose, a picnic lunch is included during the tour.

The trail takes us through landscapes that marvel at their varied high-altitude vegetation. We reach 1050 meters above sea level. There, the first stop is a natural lookout point where passengers enjoy a panoramic view of El Calafate and the central body of Lake Argentino.

In the background, the imposing and unmissable setting of the Andes Mountains, and at times during the hike, there are views of the glacier accumulation zone, toward Boca del Diablo (the narrowest part of the lake, heading toward the Upsala arm). With the weather, it's even possible to see Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Torre in El Chaltén, and with a bit of luck, perhaps the condor, ruler of the Patagonian skies, will appear in its long glide. A unique spectacle. Follow the trail to the Laberinto de Piedras (Stone Labyrinth).
This is a Cretaceous formation dating back 85 million years. It was once a riverbed; today, we can find fossil remains that allow us to witness that ancient past. We had a snack at the Huyliche confectionery and from there began the descent down the northern slope of the hill to the Piedra de los Sombreros, curious iron concretions found only in four places in the world. After this journey to other eras of world history, we returned to El Calafate, always with our eyes on the ever-present Lago Argentino.

Day 5

El Calafate

After breakfast, we will depart from El Calafate and after 85 km arrive at the Perito Moreno Glacier, formed some 30.000 years ago. The height of its frontal wall is 80 meters at its highest point, and its face covers a distance of 3 kilometers. It is the only glacier in the world that grows above water, separating the South Arm from the Rico Arm (both from Lake Argentino). The excursion consists of contemplating from land, through various angles and from increasingly closer viewpoints, the extraordinary spectacle of the glacier, eroded by Lake Argentino, and eventually observing the ice masses falling. Return to Calafate.

Next, the Nautical Safari will take place.

The excursion consists of a cruise across Lago Rico, allowing you to see the icebergs emerging from the ice walls of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Reaching the southern end of the Iceberg Channel, the boat will be positioned at a safe distance from the glacier wall, traversing its entire length and allowing you to view the calving events. Boarding will take place at the port located in Bajo de las Sombras Bay, approximately 6 km from the Glacier Viewpoint. This excursion will give us the opportunity to observe the impressive walls of the Perito Moreno Glacier and its continuous collapses into the waters of Lago Rico from a completely different perspective. This is a very interesting opportunity for photography and filming.
