Itineraries
Day 1
Jakarta
Arrival at Jakarta Airport. You must make your own way to the Anara Hotel located inside the airport. (Transfer not included).
Day 2
Jakarta – Pangkalan Bun (Borneo)
Breakfast. Approximately two hours before your flight to Borneo (included), you must make your own way to the departure terminal (transfer not included). Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun, our guides will meet you at the exit to transfer you to the port of Kumai, where we will board our "home" for the next few days. We will board the "Klotok," a traditional wooden boat specialized for traveling up and down rivers. The boat, measuring 2 x 12 m, has a roof that doubles as a balcony overlooking the rainforest! Our onboard team consists of a skipper, a native guide expert in Kalimantan's flora and fauna, and a cook. We will spend the afternoons cruising leisurely upriver, watching the monkeys, among others, take advantage of our passage to cross the river, some jumping between vines and others swimming directly. We will visit the first orangutan feeding platform station in Tanjung Harapan. After this first encounter with these creatures, we can visit the Malay village, Sei Sekonyer, to experience their way of life. We continue cruising leisurely, enjoying the sunset and the attraction of the proboscis monkeys. Dinner on board and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3
Borneo
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on board. Today we will sail to another camp, Pondok Tangguy, where you can see the orangutans being fed. We will continue our cruise along the riverbank, where, with luck, we may even see a crocodile come to the surface to take a breath before diving or exiting the dark waters. We will continue to Camp Leakey, the orangutan research and rehabilitation center established in 1971, where at least 300 orangutans have been nursed and released back into the wild. With our guide, we will explore the jungle interior to look for wild orangutans and other animals. We will enjoy a short trek through the tropical forest in search of wildlife. We will return to the boat for lunch, then see the orangutans at lunchtime. We will return to the boat for the return cruise downriver. Dinner will be served on the boat, where you'll be able to see numerous fireflies. Overnight stay at the Lodge.
Day 4
Borneo – Semarang – Yogyakarta
Breakfast. We begin the cruise back to Kumai and then to the airport for a flight to Semarang (included). Arrival and transfer by road to Yogyakarta (3-4 hours). Overnight.
Day 5
Yogyakarta
Breakfast. City tour: Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temple with lunch. Departure for a city tour: the Sultan's Palace, the Water Castle, and the Bird Market. We continue to Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will visit Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist monument in the world with over 500 Buddha statues. An ancient pilgrimage center surrounded by lush vegetation, it attracts pilgrims from all over Southeast Asia. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 6
Yogyakarta – Mount Bromo
Breakfast. Transfer to the train station to catch the train to Mojokerto–Surabaya (included). Arrival and transfer by car to Bromo. Lunch en route, then continue to Bromo. Overnight stay.
Day 7
Mount Bromo – Jakarta
At 2.770:XNUMX a.m., we will begin our all-terrain ascent of the XNUMX m Penanjakan volcano, crossing the large crater. Once at the summit, we will enjoy the beautiful sunrise from the volcano's rim. After dawn, we will descend into the crater of Mount Bromo to ascend again on horseback along "the road to heaven." From the summit, we will enjoy breathtaking views and scenery that are not easy to find anywhere else in Indonesia. Return to the hotel. Breakfast. Afterward, we will depart by road to Surabaya to catch a flight to Jakarta. Upon arrival, you must make your own way to the Anara Hotel, located inside the airport. (Transfer not included). Overnight stay.
Day 8
Jakarta – City of origin
Breakfast. With your flight departure time in mind, after checking out of the Anara Hotel at the airport, proceed to the departure terminal (transfer not included). End of our services.
