Brief New Zealand
5 days / 4 nights
Itineraries
Day 1
Auckland
Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight stay.
Day 2
Auckland
Breakfast. Visit the West Coast to Muriwai Regional Park, known for its black sand shoreline. This beach is popular for surfing and is often home to a colony of gannets, magnificent birds that spread their wings to over a meter. Visit the Auckland Museum, with its interesting collection of Maori and Polynesian art and relics. Then, we'll visit the Parnell neighborhood, where we'll stroll through one of Auckland's oldest neighborhoods, and continue to Mission Bay. We'll then head back toward the city center with a visit to the Auckland Viaduct. We'll conclude with a visit to the Sky Tower, the 328-meter-high Auckland Tower. From there, you can admire a unique view of the city and its two bays: Waitemata and Manukau. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay. **Note: This tour is provided in English, with an audio guide available in Spanish (except on the cruise).**
Day 3
Auckland – Waitomo – Rotorua
Breakfast. Depart for Waitomo to visit the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. We will begin the journey south of Auckland through the Bombay Hills, crossing the rich agricultural region of Waikato. Upon arrival in Waitomo, we will enjoy a guided tour that takes us through more than 250 meters of stunning underground landscapes. The highlight of your visit is a boat ride along the Waitomo River, where you will see thousands of glowing worm lights that form the Glowworm Grotto. As you enter this galaxy of tiny living lights, you will be fascinated and intrigued by the tiny glowworms illuminating your path. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, where you will enjoy a traditional New Zealand-style barbecue. We will continue to Rotorua where you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit Te Puia, a Maori Thermal Reserve and Cultural Centre with the New Zealand National Institute of Arts and Crafts, which houses a prestigious woodcarving school. In this reserve, you will see various silica and boiling mud deposits and take a tour of the geysers that form part of it. You will then be welcomed in a traditional manner and watch a demonstration of Maori dances and songs. Afterwards, you will enjoy a typical Maori cultural dinner. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay. **Note: This tour is provided in English, with an audio guide available in Spanish (except on the cruise).**
Day 4
Rotorua - Auckland
Breakfast. In the morning, we'll visit the Waimangu Thermal Reserve, a vast valley with abundant geothermal activity, where you can see the effects of the 1886 eruption of Mount Tarawera. Afterward, we'll begin our return trip to Auckland. Arrival at the hotel and overnight stay.
Note: The return trip from Rotorua to Auckland may be operated without a guide and with the SIC tour bus service for small groups. For this reason, it is often impossible to provide this return service to Auckland in Spanish.
