From Carthage to Kairouan

Day 1
Tunisia
Arrival in Tunis. Welcome and transfer to the hotel with assistance. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Tunisia – Hammamet – Kairouan – Sbeitla – Tozeur
Breakfast. Departure for a discovery of Kairouan, the holy city of the Maghreb and the fourth holy city after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem. It houses monuments that mark the history of Islam in North Africa. We will visit the Great Mosque, the Mausoleum of the Barber, the Aghlabid Basins, and the Medina of Kairouan. Departure for Sbeitla, the ancient Sufetula, founded under Vespasian. Lunch. Visit the site of Sbeitla. Continue to Tozeur. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Tozeur – Mountain Oasis – Nefta – Ong El Djemal – Tozeur
Breakfast. Departure by 4x4 (maximum 06 people per vehicle) to discover the exceptional mountain oases: Chebika, Tamerza, and Midès, a true suspended paradise that has become a favorite location for great filmmakers for years. A 1-hour hike will be offered in the magnificent Midès Canyon, to soak up these landscapes worthy of the Wild West. Visit the waterfalls and discover the surroundings of the Tamerza palm grove. Lunch at the Tamerza Oasis. In the afternoon, departure for Nefta, the biblical city of Djerid and the most beautiful oasis in the entire region. Visit its oasis, called La Corbeille, hidden at the bottom of a cirque with arid, ochre walls and irrigated by 152 springs, which houses the marabout of Sidi Bou Ali, the patron saint of Nefta. Route to discover the magnificent ONH Jemal dunes, as well as the set of the famous Star Wars film. Return to Tozeur. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 4
Tozeur – Chott El Djerid – Douz
Breakfast. Departure for a visit to Tozeur, the capital of Djerid. Visit its palm grove with 400.000 palm trees and its verdant gardens. This tour is available in horse-drawn carriages (optional and subject to an additional charge). Visit the harsh and silent medina, whose typical sand-colored buildings will enchant you. Lunch. On the way to Douz, crossing the Chott el-Djerid, a salt lake between the sea and the desert, where you may be able to see a mirage. Photo stop at the Chott. Arrival in Douz and panoramic tour of the city and its picturesque medina. Dinner and overnight stay.
Optional: A 2-hour camel ride in the Grand Erg Oriental, with sunset over the dunes, will be offered.
Day 5
Douz – Matmata – Gabes – Sfax
Breakfast. Departure for the discovery of Matmata, the star of southern Tunisia, and the place where the Berber population left the ground for the basement.
Visit this magnificent Berber village, built on the mountainside and featuring a lunar landscape riddled with giant holes, which great filmmakers used to make their famous films "Star Wars" and "Adventurers of the Lost Ark." Visit a troglodyte house and the filming location of the famous film "Star Wars." Lunch in Matmata. Drive to Sfax via Gabès. Stop at the EL JARA market. Arrival in Sfax and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6
Sfax – El Jem – Sousse – Port El Kantaoui – Hammamet
Breakfast. Departure for a panoramic tour of the city of Sfax and its ancient Medina. Continue to El Jem, the ancient Roman city of Thysdrus, one of the richest cities in Roman Tunisia. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its amphitheater, with its massive architecture, is the most impressive Roman monument after the Colosseum and the Colosseum of Capua. Departure and visit of Sousse, the ancient Hadrumete. Lunch in the medina of Sousse. Visit of the Ribat, one of the most venerable monuments of Maghrebi Islam, built by the Aghlabids to ward off Christian attacks. Visit of the Sousse Museum and free time in Port El Kantaoui. Continue to Hammamet. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7
Hammamet – Bardo Museum – Medina of Tunis – Carthage – Sidi Bou Said – Hammamet
Breakfast. Visit to the famous Bardo Museum, home to the most beautiful and rich collection of mosaics in the world. Visit to the Medina of Tunis, with its magnificent monuments, mosques, and lively and colorful souks, where we love to lose ourselves. Lunch in one of the Medina's palaces. In the afternoon, visit Carthage and the magnificent village of Sidi Bou Said. Walking tour of Sidi Bou Said, an ancient marabout village and a jewel of traditional Tunisian architecture, with its whitewashed houses, blue doorways, and moucharabiehs. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8
Hammamet – Tunisia
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your departing flight. End of services.
