With the spiritual guidance of Father Inocencio Llamas
From May 12 to 19, 2025
Itineraries
Day 1 - Monday 12th
Miami - Medical DF
Departure from Miami International Airport on an American Airlines or similar flight to Mexico City. Arrival, reception at the airport, and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore this beautiful city.
Day 2 - Tuesday 13th
Mexico City
Breakfast. In the morning, we will visit with our guide the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas. This Shrine was built in response to Our Lady's request to the seer of the apparition, Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin. When Saint Juan Diego conveyed her request to the Bishop, he asked for a sign. Our Lady provided Saint Juan Diego with culturally significant flowers that miraculously bloomed in the middle of winter on Tepeyac Hill. When the seer returned to the Bishop with his mantle (tilma) filled with flowers, he scattered them on the ground, revealing a stunning image of Our Lady that many studies have shown could not have been made by human hands. Upon our arrival at the Shrine, we will celebrate Holy Mass in the Indian or Capuchin Chapel. After Mass, we will tour the Basilica to admire the Tilma with the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Then, we will visit Tepeyac Hill, where the Virgin made her first appearance. Then, we will visit the Chapel of the Well and the Chapel of the Indians, where Saint Juan Diego cared for the original cloak until his final days.
At the end, we continue to San Juan Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will first learn about the cactus (maguey), then visit the archaeological site to admire the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and the Temple of the Snails and Butterflies. We will walk along the Avenue of the Dead and end at the pyramid base dedicated at that time to the gods Tlaloc and Quetzalcoatl. At the end, we will transfer to the hotel and have the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay.
Day 3 - Wednesday 14th
Mexico City - Querérato - San Miguel de Allende
Breakfast. Departure from the hotel to the city of Querétaro. Arrival and visit to the Temple of the Cross where we will celebrate Holy Mass. Then, we will make a brief visit to the Franciscan Monastery where Father Junipero Sierra began his evangelization and founded the Franciscan Missions. We will also learn more about the life of Father Antonio Margil de Jesús, who was stationed at the missionary college of Santa Cruz, Querétaro. It is said that one day, upon returning from preaching, Father Margil stuck his staff into the ground of the courtyard garden next to the monastery. After several days, people noticed that shoots began to grow where the staff was stuck, which eventually became a tree. The miraculous tree produced neither flowers nor fruit, but a series of thorns, each in the shape of a cross. Today, the tree can still be seen in the monastery courtyard. Afterward, we will take a panoramic walk through the historic center.
At the end of the tour, we will continue to San Miguel de Allende, located 65 km from Querétaro. Upon arrival, we will take a walking tour of its historic center, where we can admire the San Miguel Arcángel parish church, built at the end of the 1880th century. Master stonemason Zeferino Torres added a Neo-Gothic tower in 1755, which we will visit at the end of the tour. We will then visit the Casa de Allende, a mansion built in the 1880th century featuring a beautiful Neoclassical doorway, a facade with windows and frames carved from stone, wrought-iron balconies, and a corner niche carved in stone with a sculpture of the national hero Ignacio Allende. A central interior courtyard is surrounded by rooms that currently house an interesting historical museum, the church, and the convent of La Concepción, known as "Las Monjas," built in XNUMX for the daughter of Francisco de la Canal, who took the vows. The convent is currently occupied by the "Nigromante" Cultural Center, named in memory of the liberal writer Ignacio Ramirez. We will then visit the parish church of San Miguel Arcángel, built in the late XNUMXth century, to which Zeferino Torres, a master stonemason, added a neo-Gothic tower in XNUMX. At the end, transfer to the hotel and the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay.
Day 4 - Thursday 15th
San Miguel de Allende - Guanajuato - San Miguel de Allende
Breakfast. Early departure to Cerro del Cubilete, where we will celebrate Mass (subject to availability).
Cubilete Hill is a special emblematic site for the Cristeros. It was bombed in 1928 by the Mexican government, giving rise to the famous Cristero Revolution refrain: "Long Live Christ the King." It was rebuilt after the Cristero Revolution in 1944 and completed in 1950. The Christ the King monument weighs 80 tons and stands 120 feet tall. At the base of Cubilete Hill is the Sanctuary of Santa María de los Mártires, where we can see the relics of three Cristeros: Father José Trinidad Rangel Montano, Father Andrés Sola y Molist, and Mr. Leonardo Pérez Larios.
We'll then continue to Guanajuato, where we'll immerse ourselves in its unique atmosphere, walking through its narrow, colorful streets, admiring the architecture of the Juárez Theater, Baratillo Square, and the University of Guanajuato from the outside. We'll also see the Temple of the Society of Jesus, one of the largest Jesuit constructions in Mexico. This church was built between 1746 and 1765. However, only two years after its completion, the Jesuits were expelled from the country, and the Jesuit guild schools and college were closed. Another gem of Guanajuato is the orange-yellow Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, which houses an image of the Virgin, the city's patron saint. We'll also see the beautiful San Fernando Square and the Church of Belén. At the end, we'll return to San Miguel de Allende. Overnight stay.
Day 5 - Friday 16th
San Miguel de Allende - Mexico City
Breakfast. Early departure for the Atotonilco Sanctuary, known as the "Sanctuary of Rivers and the Homeland," considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and by many others as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas due to its cultural significance and architectural contribution to Mexican Baroque.
After the visit, we will return to Mexico City. Along the way, we will make a brief stop in Tepotzotlán to visit the Temple of San Francisco Javier and the Parish of San Pedro Apóstol. We will continue to Mexico City. Arrival and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 6 - Saturday 17th
Mexico City
Breakfast. In the morning, we will depart for the Church of the Holy Family for Mass. Afterward, you can visit the tomb of the Jesuit martyr, Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro. During the Mexican Revolution, Father Pro was exiled from Mexico due to widespread religious persecution. However, he bravely returned to Mexico and was assisted by a clandestine group that helped him hide from the authorities. He assisted many people with their spiritual and temporal needs during the persecution. Although he helped many, he was eventually arrested and killed. His last words before the firing squad were "Long Live Christ the King!" In the Church of the Holy Family, you can venerate the relics of this saint and ask for his intercession. We will then visit the small but inspiring museum dedicated to the life, mission, and sacrifice of Father Pro.
We will continue to Mexico City's Zocalo to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, then walk to the Church of Santo Domingo, which stands on the same site where the first temple was built after the Dominican conquest. Inside the church, we will see several chapels: the Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, the Chapel of Covadonga, and the Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rebozo. We will continue to the Church of San José del Altillo to see the crypt where Blessed Conchita Cabrera is buried. Blessed María Concepción Cabrera Arias de Armida, known as Conchita, was a model of holiness as a wife, mother, widow, grandmother, and founder. For the depth of her writings, Conchita is recognized as a great mystic of the 20th century. In addition to her voluminous writings, Conchita founded several apostolates under the banner of "Works of the Cross." Pope Saint John Paul II declared her Venerable on December 1999, 8, and Pope Francis confirmed a miracle attributed to Conchita on June 2018, 4. She was beatified in Mexico City on May 2019, XNUMX. Time will be provided for personal prayer and devotion. Return to the hotel afterward. Overnight stay.
Day 7 - Sunday 18th
Mexico City - Puebla - Mexico City
Breakfast. In the morning, we will depart for Puebla City, visiting Tlaxcala on the way, where we will visit the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel (San Miguel del Milagro) where we will celebrate Mass. This is where Saint Michael the Archangel appeared to Diego Lázaro in 1631, directing him to the Grotto and a well of miraculous healing waters. We will continue to Ocotlán to visit the beautiful church and see the miraculous image of Our Lady burned into a tree trunk after she appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541. Perfectly preserved, the image in a tree is housed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlán. We will continue to Puebla, where we will visit the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, built during the XNUMXth century and topped by a tiled dome and two vaulted bell towers. Next, we will visit the Church of Santo Domingo with its magnificent Rosary Chapel, whose gold-carved altar is a true work of art. Afterward, we'll visit the Church of San Francisco, where we'll learn the story of Blessed Sebastián de la Aparicio and see his incorrupt body. Afterward, we'll return to Mexico City and transfer to the hotel for overnight stays.
