Itineraries
Day 1
Seoul
Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Note: There are 14 departure gates at Seoul Airport, and passengers must exit through the gate with the same number as the gate where the plane lands. If the plane lands at Gate 3, passengers must exit through Gate 3.
Day 2
Seoul
After breakfast, the day is dedicated to exploring South Korea's capital, which will be done by subway. Visit Gyeongbokgung Royal Palace (closed Tuesdays), located north of the capital. This is one of the five palaces of the Choson (Joseon) dynasty and includes the Folk Museum and its collection of traditional Korean life. Next, visit Jogyesa Temple, a temple of the Jogyesa Buddhist Order that practices Zen meditation. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, stroll through Bukchon Hanok Village. This area, known as the "Northern Village," is home to some 900 traditional Korean houses and offers a unique cultural immersion in Korea's ancient times. The day ends with a stroll along Insadong Street, lined with antique shops and art galleries. Overnight stay.
Note: In case Gyeongbokgung Palace is closed (Tuesdays), Changdeokgung Palace, the second royal residence in the UNESCO World Heritage city, will be visited.
The transfer for this day is by subway.
Day 3
Seoul – DMZ – Seoul
Breakfast. Full-day tour of the DMZ with a local guide. Located on both sides of the 38th parallel, this infamous border was established at the end of the war, in 1953, to separate North and South Korea. Upon arrival, we will proceed to passport security, followed by a brief introduction to the United Nations camp. We will discover Imjingak Park, which includes the memorials, the Liberty Bridge, and the Unification Bell; the Third Tunnel, a 1,6-kilometer infiltration tunnel built by North Korea and discovered by South Korea in 1978; and the Dorasan Observatory, which offers panoramic views of the Demilitarized Zone and from where visitors can view North Korean territory with binoculars. We will then continue to Tongil Chon, which means "Unification Village" in Korean, a very peaceful place located in a buffer zone just outside the DMZ. A late lunch will be served during the tour. At the end of the tour, return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 4
Seoul – Suwon – Andong
Breakfast. Departure for Suwon and visit Hwaseong Fortress, one of the largest military structures in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour continues to Haenggung Palace. Option: Eocha shuttle bus to Hwaseong Fortress. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive to Andong and visit the Dosan Confucian Academy, a masterpiece of Korean Confucian architecture built in 1574. Overnight stay.
Day 5
Andong
After breakfast, depart for a visit to Andong Hahoe Folk Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Andong Hanji Paper Mill, where traditional Korean paper is made. Continue to Woryeonggyo Bridge, the longest wooden pedestrian walkway in Korea. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 6
Andong - Gyeongju
Breakfast. Depart by road to Gyeongju, the spiritual and cultural capital of Korea. Visit the Gyongju National Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the city nicknamed "the museum without walls." This ancient capital of the Shilla Kingdom was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Visit the Observatory and Cheomseongdae Tower, built in 634. Later, walk around Anapji Pond (the name has since been changed to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond). Overnight.
Day 7
Gyeongju - Busan
Breakfast. Visit Bulguksa Temple (UNESCO) and then Seokguram Cave (UNESCO). Built in the 23th century on the slopes of Mount Toham, the cave contains a monumental statue of Buddha gazing out to sea. The shrine is considered a masterpiece of Buddhist art in the Far East. Lunch. In the afternoon, stroll through the Burial Mounds Park, home to XNUMX sovereign tombs from the Shilla Kingdom, and visit the tomb of the "Celestial Horse." Afterward, visit Beomeosa Temple, an architectural masterpiece located in a beautiful mountain setting. Continue to Busan. Overnight stay.
Day 8
Busan
Breakfast. Visit of Busan and its famous Haeundae Beach, a very popular destination among Koreans during summer vacations. Stop at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. This site pays tribute to the 37.895 members of the UN forces who died during the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. We will then visit the Jagalchi Fish Market and the International Market, where all kinds of goods are sold. Lunch. Afterward, return to the hotel and free time. Overnight stay.
Day 10
Busan – Hometown
Breakfast and free day. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport. End of our services.
