The next stop will be Wat Pho, or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, one of the largest in the world at 46 meters long. Next, you will visit the impressive Grand Palace complex, one of the most beautiful in the world for its exquisite decoration blending traditional Thai style with Renaissance influences. The visit to the Grand Palace includes a visit to Wat Phra Kaew, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the most important in all of Thailand. On your return to the hotel, you will visit the state-owned gemstone factory. Day 3
Bangkok
Breakfast and overnight stay. Free day (or city tour if not scheduled the day before).
Day 4
Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Ang Thong – Phitsanulok
Breakfast. Departure for the city of Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam and the country's preeminent archaeological center. We will visit its archaeological site of great historical interest and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Ayutthaya is a lasting example of the importance and richness of this country's heritage. We will then head to Ang Thong to visit Wat Muang, where we will see the largest seated Buddha statue in Thailand and the ninth largest in the world, almost 100 meters tall. Lunch. Departure for Phitsanulok, located in the heart of Thailand and considered one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage centers in the country. During the journey, we will witness the changing landscape, becoming increasingly lush and green, already surpassing the jungle landscapes of the north of the country. Arrival and overnight stay.
Day 5
Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Chiang Rai
Early in the morning, for those who wish, we will depart for the vicinity of the hotel to make an offering to the monks and experience firsthand one of the most important rituals of Buddhist culture. Breakfast is followed by departure to the city of Sukhotai. We will visit its Archaeological Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its incredible beauty and a testament to the centuries of prosperity of Thai civilization, which saw the construction of monumental cities and sophisticated temples. We will continue to Chiang Rai via Lampang, enjoying the wonderful views along the way and Lake Prayao. Lunch. Arrival and overnight stay.
Day 6
Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai
Breakfast. We head to the natural border of the Mekong River, known as the Golden Triangle, which encompasses areas of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar formerly dedicated to the opium trade. We will visit the Opium Museum in Chiang Rai. From there, and before making the obligatory stop at Wat Rong Khun or the White Temple, we will head to the innovative and striking Wat Rong Suea Ten or the Blue Temple. Here you can find paintings in a style similar to that of the White Temple, as it was there that its architect trained for years. We will stop at the spectacular and contemporary Wat Rong Khun, where the color white signifies purity and the crystal represents the wisdom of Buddha as the "light that shines in the world and the universe." The villagers believe that Buddha crossed the temple bridge to preach the dogma for the first time. Lunch en route and arrival in Chiang Mai. Overnight stay.
Day 7
Chiang Mai
Breakfast and transfer to the elephant camp, where we will witness a demonstration of the strength and skill of these great creatures. Then, our safari begins on elephant back, following the riverbed and crossing the dense jungle vegetation. After the safari, we will descend the river on bamboo rafts. Lunch will follow, followed by a visit to an orchid plantation where we can witness the unparalleled beauty of this beautiful flower species. Transfer to the hotel and free time. Overnight stay.
